The World is Just Awesome

I love weird animals. That might not seem like the most relevant statement on a writing/reading blog, but I've actually managed to fit some of my favorite weird animals into my writing (my current WIP features cameos by the fish-tongue parasite and the moss piglet). It's incredible to observe the way different bodies have evolved, some with see-through skin, some with purple limbs, some with delicate white armor. We're basically all made of the same ingredients, but there are seemingly infinite variations in how cells can fit together (biology sure does get my heart racing). I recently found this fantastic blog, Fauna Fabula, that has some cah-ray-zay animals that are just asking for walk-on roles in future books.
Violet Sea Snail (Janthina prolongata)
White Knight (Acanthonotozoma cristatum)--It's so beautiful!
Glass Frog or Crystal Frog (Hyalinobatrachium pellucidum)
Pink Fairy Armadillo or Pichiciego (Chlamyphorus truncatus)
Banded Piglet Squid (Helicocranchia pfefferi)--This thing seriously looks like a Pixar character.
Pacific Barreleye Fish (Macropinna microstoma)
