A Couple Non-Book Related Things I'm Loving

This show has been recommended to me numerous times and I finally checked it out. So glad I did--it's awesome. It's a retelling of The Count of Monte Cristo in which a young girl whose father was falsely accused of a crime comes back years later to exact her revenge on the people who framed him. That the people are filthy rich and live in the strange and fascinating landscape of the Hamptons makes it all the more entertaining.

Downton Abbey
The new season starts tonight! I've watched the first season probably five times on DVD. It gets better and better with each viewing. I've heard some grumblings about season 2 being unsatisfactory by British viewers on Twitter who've already seen it, but I'm still going in hopeful that WWI won't be too hard on my favorite characters.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
I haven't read the book or seen the Swedish films, so I wasn't sure what to expect going into this movie. What followed was a completely intense, tightly-crafted mystery that surprised me constantly. I'm going to read the book to try to figure out exactly how it was done.

Midnight in Paris
This is a Woody Allen movie set in Paris, which makes it recommendable all on its own. But there's a twist--which hopefully hasn't been ruined for you yet--that pushes it into a whole new level of awesome, especially for book lovers. It's available at RedBox.

Just Mango from Trader Joe's
This is my new addiction. Since moving to Seattle, land of rain and organic foodstuffs, I discovered this epitome of dried fruit perfection. So good.
